Ichigoni 152 - Tadao Ando

February 19, 2017 by Deborah Ma in visuals

Watch a little and be inspired. Tadao Ando is a genius and a romantic - could you ask anything more of an architect? He dreams of beautiful ideas and it leads to his creations posing as structures that not only elevate our aesthetic sensibilities but challenge our desires for modern living to encompass more quiet, more fight, more feeling.

This month, Ando launches his first residential property in New York City at 152 Elizabeth Street in Nolita. The building  showcases his hallmark use of balancing contemporary elements of concrete and steel alongside nature, water, and greenery.

“A living space should be a sanctuary.. I would like to make architecture that has a subtle sensitivity. It’s about sensitivity that treats water like a living thing, light like a living thing - those elements together can make us feel that we are alive. I want to make something that touches human hearts and leaves a feeling in that heart. Maybe it’s about fighting and living a quiet life together.””
